A beautiful day at the lake

P at her 2 month checkup

Well, Paytin had her 2 month well check and shots on Tuesday. Mike's schedule has changed, so he wasn't able to go with us, and again, I had to brave the shots by myself (hate that part!). Let me just take a quick second, for baby book sakes, and say how much I love our pediatrician. I chose one out of the blue for the kids, without researching since our last one wasn't available anymore and I just thank God for giving us such an awesome one this time around. She really loves kids, really cares, never seems rushed, and is so great with all the questions I ask! She's the best.

Ok, back to appt. Mike and I were both excited to get Paytin weighed to see exactly how much our chunky monkey weighs since our home scale isn't as accurate and read about 11 lbs. She came in at 10 lbs, 13 oz (50th percentile), 22 3/4 length (75% percentile) and her head was 15.5 (50% percentile). I'm super happy with this gain since she was in the 5% and 25% in everything last checkup! She's still a little itty bitty Paytin, just longer and chubbier :)

There was a little concern about Paytin's neck at our appt, that was quickly dismissed. She seems to favor one side a lot more than the other, including breastfeeding on that side better, sleeping facing that way, etc. Our doctor was concerned for a quick second but after talking to another one of the doctor's in our office, they decided she just favors it most likely because of her positioning in the womb and for us to just encourage her to use the other side as much as possible :) We also talked about Paytin's clogged tear duct because it's back with avengence, but no drops or medicine is needed yet, just keep using the warm wash cloth, and massaging it.

Then came the yucky part, the shots. The screams from my babies isn't the worst part of the shots, I know they wont remember it and that I will be able to soothe their pain momentarily, but I hate watching the nurse grab their chunky little thighs and just jam that needle in. Of course I'm thankful they do it quickly, but I just think it's so rough to have such a long needle go in such a tiny little baby! And more than the scream, I hate the big long gasp Paytin took, turned red in the face, and then the scream. From what I remember, she was easier to console than Brayden was, and not only quieted down in about 20 seconds but fell asleep almost immediately after. That night, she slept from 9 to 1:30 am without feeding, and then continued to sleep until around 12 only waking up a couple times to eat. I should have realized that was going to make the afternoon more difficult and Paytin pretty much wanted to eat eveyry 30 min to an hour, and even stopped to eat for almost an hour straight at Mike's parents house last night. She seems to be doing much better this morning, yay!

2 months

I have a feeling I will be saying this every single month, but where oh where does the time go?! Paytin Lily is 2 months old today and it just amazes me how fast the time flies! She has changed so much this last month, particularly in the last two weeks and it just reminds me again how fast they grow up and to cherish each and every moment!

Here's some of the "Paytin facts" for this second month!

  • Not sure of how much she weighs, we will find out at her 2 month check up on the 16th.  But she is a CHUNKER and still LOVES to eat. She is nursing great and is doing better at doing actual feedings and snacking less!
  • I've just come to accept that she gets her sleeping habits from her Daddy and not her Mommy (unlike Brayden) and she just doesnt need or want to sleep like I would like her too! She wakes up roughyl every 2 hours during the night, but does one long stretch 3-4 hours right at the beginning of the night (before I go to bed) and one long nap during the day (usually) other than that it's cat naps! Sometime in the night, roughly between 1 and 5 am, she has an awake time of about an hour where she just wants to lay in her crib and look at her mobile, or cuddle with me.
  • She still sleeps with us during the night, and hasn't taken to either of her bassinets yet. I wish she would, but like I said before, I am still cherishing this time when she is still so tiny! And we still swaddle her to sleep for the most part, sometimes she really doesnt care for it, but for the most time, we do.
  • She is cooing and talking a bit more, but isn't a complete chatter box yet!
  • Her fussy time is from about 4-7 at night which stinks because thats when Daddy gets to see her the most!
  • She has learned to like her swing now (praise God!) and her play mat and can be on either and entertain herself for quite awhile now (it helps that Brayden loves to entertain her too)
  • She loves bathtime now which is always a lot of fun but still isn't a fan of lotion time!
  • She still loves her changing mat and the dog bed more than any other places.
  • She LOVES to stretch out her legs and stick out her toes, like ALL the time. Mike and I laugh about it constantly.
  • She also still loves to be on her tummy when she sleeps. I let her nap like that during the day for the most part but at night, she will sleep on her back in between us (after I get her to fall asleep on my chest)
  • She still does this adorable thing with her thumbs where she curls her fingers around them in her palm, all the time!
  • She is starting to like her pacifier more but gets mad that she can't keep it in her mouth; she loves to suck on her hand but can't get her thumb since she tucks it in.
  • She's gotten a lot more regular with going poop and pee which is awesome because we were going through diapers SO fast (I guess we still are)
  • She hates her carriers (Bjorn and Moby) which is a huge bummer to me because it would make life so much easier!
  • She also has a really hard time taking a bottle. I'd say 70-80% of the time she takes a bottle (which isn't very often) she ends up throwing/spitting up later in the day. We burp her a lot while feeding her, and I wait at least 2 hours afterwards to feed her again but it still seems like her tummy can't process it and she ends up throwing up after another feeding. She also gets REALLY mad after finishing a bottle because she thinks that she hasn't gotten as much as she needs since it comes out so fast!
  • She has completely grown out of her newborn clothes and is in size 0-3 now and is in Size 1 diapers.
  • She smiles a LOT more that I remember Brayden smiling at this age, and it's really sweet to see :)
  • She also love love LOVES lights and will constantly stare at our ceiling lights or our sun lights in our downstairs. She also still loves to stare at her mobile, and her favorite stuffed animal monkey.
  • Brayden still just adores to be around her and with her. I thought he would get mad or frustrated when she cries, but he either ignores it, or more often tries to get her to stop crying by giving her his toys (haha), giving her a pacifier, reading or singing to her. Just yesterday, Brayden sat next to her while she played on her playmat for an HOUR just talking to her and showing her toys and such!
We are just so in love with this little girl and are so grateful for all that her lively personality has already brought and will continue to bring to our family. Paytin you are the apple of all of our eye and we couldn't love you any more than we already do! We can't wait to see what changes in the upcoming months and see your personality come out even more! Happy 2 Monthday Baby girl!!

Playing dress up :)

We found this super cute outfit for Paytin at Old Navy the other day (her first jean shorts) and I was too excited to try it on her. It fits really good but she still has some room to grow into it :) My dear friend Elissa crocheted the headband that Payting is wearing in the first couple shots! I just LOVE It!

All Serious

There's a smile!

Checking out what's going on in the other side of the room

Wait Mommy, I need to tell you something!

Ok, enough's enough. I'm tired of taking pictures!

Artwork and a pretty girl

Brayden's first time drawing "smiley faces". He was just drawing on his board and then told me to come and look, so I had to snap picture!

Learning his ABC's one letter at a time!

I drew a "sad monster" per Brayden's request andh e erased one of the eyes and told me it was a pirate!

She LOVES to suck on her hand, her fingers, and her arms, whatever is closest when the need arises :)
