4 months old!

This will be a quick list this month because I just havent had the time latley to get on here like I would like too but I still want to record what's new with Miss P.

  • You wear size 2 diapers, though you could probably already fit into a 3.
  • You wear size 3-6 and 6 month clothes and are a BIG girl
  • The weather is changing here and you don't love being bundled up, at all. In fact, you would love to just lay around in your diaper all day if you could and it was warm enough too! You get quite ticked off at me when it comes time for jackets and shoes ;)
  • You have got a killer smile, a flirty little personality, and a laugh that makes every one else laugh, but the past two weeks have seen you a little bit crabbier than usual.  We're chalking it up to early teething because you are chewing on everything already and quite the drooly bucket too!
  • You will have your 4 month check on the 19th, so we will get your "stats" then.
  • You still just love love love Brayden, and love Daddy and Mommy too. I don't know that you really have a favorite right now but you are equally fond of all of us.
  • We started putting you in your exersaucer last weekend. You still seem so little to Daddy and I but we know you are stable enough to handle it, and put a blankey behind your back just so you dont move too too much and you....LOVE it. Your playmat is your current favorite place to play (I love how it changes month to month) but you aren't exactly in love with tummy time which cracks me up because you will only sleep on your tummy still!
  • You still get swaddled to sleep and are on NO sort of schedule whatsoever. It's fun seeing God teach me new things through Daddy, and Brayden, and now you! One thing He is teaching me through you is to just GO with the flow. You rock at letting me know what you want when you want it so instead of a schedule, I've just gotten pretty good at knowing what you like and don't like ;)
  • You get bored in your swing these days and your chair too, and haven't really taken to your bumbo chair quite yet, so you love to be held, play on the playmat, lay in your crib and changing table, and the exersaucer.
  • You're not rolling over yet, but you've done it a couple times on our bed inconsistently. You keep getting on your side from your back, but haven't made the big roll that ways yet.
  • We're eager to start feeding you rice cereal, well, especially me, because I would love to see you sleep a bit more at night time!
  • You still wake up a few times a night, and bad Mommy and Daddy, you still sleep in bed with us. Eventually I will break you of this habit.
  • As much as I wanted to do the eat, play, sleep routine with you, you really love to nurse to sleep. We've gotten in a good habit of me swaddling you and then letting you eat, and then you fall asleep and take your nap. It works pretty good for us!
  • You love the dogs, specifically Brutus because he doesnt get in your face and try to kiss you. You laugh a lot at him!
That's all I've got for now, but I am sure I am missing a MILLION little things that we love about you and treasure about you at this 4 month mark in your life! I have pictures of you on your special day, but will wait to post them in a few days when I have a bit more time!!

Finally learning

a tiny bit about shutter speed. It's not much and it's just one facet of a looooong list of stuff I need to learn on my camera, but its a start. And I'm learning to appreciate the little things I get accomplished and not just get downhearted about the large goals I have set out to acheive that seem so far away. So yesterday, I was overjoyed to take this small step!

If I could keep you this little...

I would.

I wouldn't trade these moments with you two for anything. I savor the moments that aren't so monumental, but that take shape and take place in my hearts for exactly where you both are right now. The rubbing of your face on my chest or my sleeve because your tired, the kneading of your hands on my neck or my shirt while you nurse, the squeals of delight, the sighs of happiness, turning your head and smiling the minute you see me walk in your room, the drooley bubbles wiped all over my face in a big open mouthed sloppy kiss. The need for me to bend down to wherever you hurt to kiss your owie, the desire you have to help me with all the chores even though they take 10 times longer, how you pick your nose and then want me to take your booger for you (oh wait, maybe not that one), the pride you have in doing the whole potty process by yourself, how you still line your cars, puzzles, other toys up and are so organized, how you call all bugs butterflys, that you want to say Jesus Loves YOU instead of Jesus loves ME, that you put your underwear on backwards because it just doesn't make sense to have the cool character on your bootie where you can't see it. That you can't sleep without being swaddled, that you kick your socks off faster than I put them on, that you hate having your neck cleaned in the bathtub and can now shimmy to the complete other side of your crib while you're supposed to be napping, that you flirt with Daddy and Brayden, that you can't catch your breath when you laugh sometimes, that your forehead turns so darn red when you wake up or when you are sleepy and isn't the best for pictures but those are the times you are the happiest.  That you scream really really loudly sometimes when you get to laughing so hard you can't stop, that you love to talk about monsters and love to hide from them as much as you love to protect Mommy from them, that you really could care less if you had not one toy in the house as long as you could hang out with Mommy and Daddy all day, that you are quite insistent on how your blanket is layed on you each night at bed time, over your blanket, not over your face, but touching it. I just love you both so much and love the love that your Daddy has for you as well. The time we have with you is not guaranteed, not long enough, and you will be grown and gone before we know it so we choose to treasure today with you. You two are our greatest blessings and we are more than grateful for the precious time we get to commit our care to you!

Kincaidy Updates again...

  • Brayden's got quite the imagination on him these days and I am loving the imaginative play! He's not one to sit and play by himself for very long and loves to be played with and entertained (wonder where he got the socialness from) but lately has been coming up with these cute elaborate stories or adventures all on his own.  Last night, it was pretending to watch the "movie" in the bathtub where he had his car bath tub stickers all lined up on the wall and he pretended a cup full of bubbles was popcorn, and another cup was for his drink (no prompting from me at all), and he is constantly running, kicking, hitting, or otherwise hiding from and attacking the imaginary monsters around our house. It's pretty darn hilarious. And his newest catch phrase is "to the rescue" which he says at the right and wrong times which makes it even funnier.
  • Paytin's 13 lbs 5.5 ounces now and over her ear infection thankfully! She's still quite the nursling and wants to eat more than I probably should let her. She's moved up a size in diapers this week and is in her 3 month clothes and 3-6 month clothes easily. She is such a predictable baby and I love that I know exactly what makes her tick and therefore can keep her "pretty" happy most of the time. She's really into blowing bubbles right now and screeching when she gets really excited.
  • Mike actually had a couple days off work this week which was so needed its not even funny. I can't believe how much and how hard its been working, or the toll its been taking on both of us. It's been so nice just seeing his face, just being able to sit on the couch next to him for more than five minutes, do things around the house and run errands with him. Today we are going on a "big" outing and leaving the kiddos at home with MeeMa and Auntie Katie while we trek down to Chico to see a movie with friends. I know they will have a blast and it will be good for us to have a good half a day to ourselves but it still seems weird to leave Paytin so long!
  • We're still deciding if a mini vacation is in the works or if we want to just hang out or what when Mike has a few days off later in the month. There's so much going on this month with pumpkin patches, the start of the toy drive, Halloween, youth group starting back up, family portraits, etc that I just dont know if we want to lay low those days and save the money or what. I guess we'll have to decide!
  • I've been trying to tackle a couple craft projects lately which is challenging for me. For people that know me well, I'm very much a single tasker. You get too much going on at once and I just dont cope well, so with art projects, I used to just sit down in peace and quiet and devote as much time as I had to them, MUCH different after having kids, which is probably why I've had such a long hiatus in crafting. Now that I'm getting into it again (little by little) I'm realizing how LONG a simple project can take with little ones, especially when they dont nap at the same time consistently.
